What line on Torium 20?

Go with the .42 XX, 27Lbs. Not too thick and def not too thin. Casts like a dream.

If you go too thin, the line might creep in between the spool and the frame. Just depends on the finish of your reel.

Very sound advise here regarding the line creep. On my Finnor's .40 is fine but on the Penn GS reels .45 is better suited.

Johan, my opinion of the reel.

Its not a bad reel at all, problem is the reel body is ill matched to the spool. There are/is irregular spacing between spool and reel casing. Too thin a line will enter into this space and get caught up within the reel often resulting in pinched line and then you will have to cut and remove and you eventually lose the line you have on the reel.

I have heard of comments from other torium 20 owners and looked at new models - all have the same issue. ?

Torium20, Penn500s,Pen49, Grandwave40,Satlist40, FinorOFC30 all don't like line under 0.40. Unless you thumb constantly in the cast to reduce feathering you gonna get some pinched line. Nothing wrong with any of the reels so let's not slam brands. Puts me to sleep very quickly :fbash

Possibly, but those are the ones I've experienced this problem with. Even on my baitcasters I manage to pinch line when the brakes are removed. Am sure the saltiga, trinidad, torque etc would do the same. Hopefully one of the guys who own 1 would do us the honour of trying some light line?

I like the .42 on all my eds reels. Can handle any fish that takes the bait.

As for the sl30, anything below .42 will do just fine.
