What is the Posseidon 3XH like for sliding etc?

Not a bad entry level stick, got a good action and average pulling power.

I only say this since having pulled fish with the likes of the Pentagons and other HMG sticks. Once you been in that league you will think everything else is "soft" ..

(Can pull a "Sharpnose Bronzie" - I seen it!)

Well then your @ss is E-N-T-R-Y_L-E-V-E-L !!!

You then said it yourself, you pull the same fish as me and my "5grand rod" - it's R3600 but ja - so what does your 3XH cost? That is my justification for calling it entry level guy.. :?

Okay i'l stick to my entry level rod... Although i'v seen the 3xh land ribon tail's of 161kg and zambi'z of 225kg...

Happy fishing with your R3600 rod bru, if it make's u feel like a better angler by all means use it.. :)

I have to agree with both Craig n JJ ...

Personally
It is a great all round rod ...
i have used one a few years back when it 1st came out ...
it made light work of a few lekka greys in Ballito ... avg +- 10kgs of High rocks ...
It all depends what is your choice ... n budget !!!

just my 2cs

Thunder, I have the 3XH and Pentagon's etc.

Your 3XH is ideal for sliding and will land almost most that you hook.

No sense wasting money if you are not sure yet if you want to go big or have the funds to spend on expensive rods.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to have some opinions and advice about the rod. It is a great looking rod!

Come now chaps.. you missing the point here !!

I had this stick myself, Doom11 took it over from me and uses it still today, in fact he is on the Pier as I type this with that very rod. He has his Pentagon too and given a choice will rather fight a fish on the Pentagon. Anyone that says otherwise has either not used a Pentagon or is not being honest. There is just no comparison! Entry Level Vs. Top Of The Range!

JJ if you think it makes me "feel" a better angler you are mistaken. Simply analogy - you come to a horse race on your "Mule" and I will ride my "Race Horse" - sure you will get to the finish line but by then I am in the winners circle claiming my prize.

You can pull just about anything with it yes but that does not change the fact that is an entry level rod. Seriously, why do tackle companies and rod builders develop BETTER kit if there is no point?

And then I stumble upon this thread:

My point has just been made..

Abaddon I agree with you on this...... And jj also has a point! Sure the 3xh is a very capable rod and can pull almost anything.... But there is no doubt that the pentagon will pull that extra bit harder, for the money the 3xh is a great rod.... But is the pentagon 2000 Rand better.... I don't know... Put it this way If the two rods were lying next to each other and you could take one for free you would take the pentagon for sure.... But it is rather expensive. No doubt the pentagon is the better rod but it comes at a price. So yes the 3xh is very good value for money.... And will do the job perfectly! Try power pro braid otherwise berkley whiplash Is great

Trust Crazy Shark, he does alot of fishing on his one and I have seen some of the fish he has pulled with this rod.

But like he said, the person behind the rod and reel is the one who is in control and will determine if the fish will be landed or not.

there is some top league angler fishing with nothing else than a loomis custom build..what you make of it..although the pentagon is on my next shopping list..then i will comment on both..

Peentagon is also on my shopping list. Just waiting to do my tax returns and I will order one and also a TRIN 40. After this I should have what I want and then it is to build up my ligth tackle outfits for drop shot

its not about getting to the finish line..top of the range or not..some guys can use ordinary tackle and will end on top with every ocasion..superb anglers..every once in a while we spoil ourselves with a nice and expensive "gift" like the blade or pentagon..but its not going to make me a better angler..

hey there..

i can luckily can comment on this one as a current owner of both sticks.

1. Poseidon, great stick, love it, does the job... and does it well.... caught a lot on it ...
rays , rags, spear nose bronze.. , and one or two pieces of utter shit too.......barbel
    and other kak....)

2. Pentagon, great stick... love this one like a child... ( and treat it like one too..
costly to repair and i will know.. i truly own THE R 5700 pentagon)
once you fish this .... there is very little left out there too surprise and that
makes fighting large non ed's easier.....
strong as hell plenty back which means less of mine in the fight..\

If you want to take it a a price level.. yes the Poseidon is an entry level stick..
out on the beach and the rocks... up to the man ( or lady ) behind the stick..
if it works for you... great  if not .... haul out the cash and upgrade....
thats about as simple as it is....

as i said i have both.... when i open my rod bags to fish, pentagon is assembled first and that my shark or large non ed stick .... thats fact by me...

happy hunting .... may it be a pistol, rifle or a bow.... ( river rod, pup slinger, noodle, poseidon or the pentagon..... ) EACH TO THERE OWN....
