Will the bob sands knot work on braid of similar diameters? (To join similar diameter braid)
Cheers

It does but for anything over 30lbs rather stitch them together it's way stronger and more streamlined

85-95% or 100% depends on which version you tie

As with all braid knots security and integrity is a step up if it is finished with UV knot sense or just a drop of super glue

it's not as secure as the FG but ties way, way, WAY quicker especially when VISKOORS is high.

Ties just as easily to braid and fireline and monofilament.

Even if your go to knot is the PR or FG you will be well advised to learn how to tie the Bob Sands securely as there will be times when speed is necesarry or you have to tie in the water on a reef etc then it is the next best thing to a PR

Thanks.

I am sold as it appears to be the best quick connection of braid mainline to braid leader which passes easily through the guides while keeping braid strength.
When using 0.18mm Gator Braid to a heavier braid leader, it is impossible to stitch both into each other even if in the comfort of home, let alone on a boat.

If the knot (Bob Sands) is made with a double loop, does it become stronger?
It sure becomes bulkier, but does its strength increase?

I find it is at its strongest when you do not clinch the braid. That is the version where you go in through the knot in the mono, wrap 15 times up and 15 times down then the braid exits through the mono knot, pull both knots tight and close off with a few half hitches and a uni. Almost an FG with a mono stopper. This way there is no clinch or knot in the braid and then a drop of Super Glue.....

If you are a braid angler then I would recommend a small bottle of Q Bond in your tackle box and apply.to all your braid knots.

Stops any fiber sliding over each other and this also results in zero braid cut off.

I dont understand fully...as you are effectively clinching the braid tight when you pull back the wraps made on the braid.

Clinching over a longer distance spreads the pressure. With the standard the tag end goes through at 90 degrees and creates a weak spot

I have found that the FG knot works very well from mainline braid to braid leader once you have the knack of doing it.

Hi! Is there guys using this knot on multypliers? I used it some time back. But the knot turned sideways in my rods eyes as I casted the leader of witch resulted in a Volstruisnes.
Koper also foud that it happend to him...

Regards

Hard to explain now... I coud clearly hear the knot go thru the eyes Klap Klap! Of whas the leader on the knot.
I think the knot turned side ways the moment the line made an arc? Im not sure. But when I changed to a biminie an a spyker knot the problem was gone.

Check the picture in post 11.
The Uni knot is so small, it won't even make a noise when passing the eyes.
Your change to a bimini/spyker knot is possibly even bulkier than the Bob Sands knot.

Try and try again.
