Im all for being innovative.Johan its called Sleeve protector i use them just some stores dont stock cause they dont sell well. You also get some with foam underneath so it serves two purposes. The only problem with the plastic sleeve coating on electric wire its to soft.I'll see if i can get a pick of what i put on my snoek lines.Much harder plastic.
So yes im all for being innovative but being innovative one thing ,reinventing the wheel is another. With so many products on the market we cant help buy trying to get the best setup. As most youngsters who start want get the best to catch the biggest.Where you'll proberly find and Ou gesout man standing next to you and more than likely will out fish your setup 9 times out of 10
Fishing has been around for who know how long and our fathers fathers have caught stink loads of elf cob what with proved tryed and tested methods. The one you see in the books no fancy christmass trimmings nothing.
Although todays technology has seen improvement in just about everything .The rods ,the reels the line the hooks. But the basic trace remains the same an unchanged.
So most fisherman go out they know what species they targeting and they go prepared no time to look for any lolipop sticks, electric wire.
Now if you looking for lolipop sticks and electric wire before you go fish maybe you should take up recycling.Just jokes

Anyways good luck hope you catch a big one none the less
