Hi Sparadon

If you drive along Baden Powell Drive from Strandfontein towards Stellenbosch you will come across a sign the says SWARTKLIP on your right habd side. It is a large parking area where you park and walk down to the beach . hope this helps

Hi Sparadon

I dont recommend fishing at night unless there is abou 10 of you.

swartklip is on the outskirts of the townships and you do get some of them wondering to the beach to look for trouble

that is so sad, so is strand and gordon's bay the only safe places to fishing at night?? I can't believe it, surely there must be more places !!

Well you can always try Baileys cottage at night. Becase the area from Standfontein to maccaser is so isolated and dark it becomes very dangerous, if you can find a not so isolated are with a little activity i rekon that could be safe enought at night

If you drive throught Muizenberg on the way yo Kalk Bay you will see on you left hand side a small cottage on the waters edge that is called Bailey Cottage.

You will also be able to see it if you are standening on Muizenberg Beach it will be slightly to you right

hope this helps

I think the only way it will be safe at night is to get a bunch of us from this site and go on mass to the spots.

The way I see it is there are 15 of us from CT, so perhaps if we could get 8 or even 10 guys together we can go tackle the monsters of the deep at night!

Otherwise, yes it's only Strand, Gordons Bay and maybe Baileys.

I'm keen to hear from more of the Capetonian fisherman in this regard.

Hey Binx

I somehow knew you'd agree.  So we have screaming South Easters for the next day and a half, then it settles somewhat.  The problem is High is at 14H30 and 03H00 which wreaks havoc with work.

I'll keep and eye for the week end, sounds like a plan! :D

Hi Binx and Sparadon

I'll keep a close eye on weather conditions, and keep you posted as to where may be a good spot to go.... Myself and a bud Larry will be going (weather permitting), so with you 2 that makes 4..... Hey could be a night session with numbers!

Cheers

Coxy!

Hey Binx

Ended up at the old Harbour in Gordon's Bay.  My old man hooked into and landed a 7kg Skate.

I got 4 solid screams, but line got parted on each (no steel trace on), but a few guys hooked some sharks.... Claimed to be hammerheads.... Didn't see them.

Me, I'm an edible fisherman, but at this rate I'm gonna start sliding with a 1.5m steel trace!  My philosophy is catching shark is still better than catching bugger all!

Coxy, the old harrbour is that by the Gordans bay yacht club?

What bait were you using? some how i dont believe they were hammers as you dont get them around here ( i could be mistaken ). I am also an eddie man but sometimes cathing shark is a lot more fun than getting nothing. Try sliding you never know what you pick up even the big eddies pick up a slide.
