I had a run-in with Karcher recently.
I have a small Karcher 200 pressure cleaner for light jobs arround the house. The hose got damaged right on the crimp that fixes the hose to the connector that connects to the main machine. I contacted Karcher, and they said that I should take it to their workshop in Pinetown, and that it could be repaired. So I took an hour of work to take it in to the workshop. The guy there gave it one look, and told me that they cannot fit a new connector and that I will have to buy a new hose. The hose costs a cool R650. I told him that the main office said that they would be able to fix it, and he just shrugged it off, and said all he can do is order a new hose. Then he said that there is a hydraulics company down the road, and that if I am not willing to pay for a new hose, I should ask if they could help me. So I asked him if they would be able to order just the connector for me, but he said that they do not keep these spares. How the heck they fix the machines at their repairs workshop without access to spares is beyond me!!!!!
I e-mailed head office about this, but a month on, still no reply.
For R250 more I can get a brand new pressure cleaner, and for R100 less I can get a good second hand cleaner. I will definitely not be replacing it with a Karcher!!!
