Waypoints/Marks between Bilene and Calanga (north of Macaneta)

Hi Guys

I recently moved to Mozambique (Manhica), the closest beach is Calanga. Does anyone have gps marks for this area? I have paddled around for hours and am yet to find any reef, the area seems quite dead. Are there any guys here that fish this area? Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry cant help with that one I do know that bilene is quite a good spot for snoek. If you go to calanga there should be some locals with their own version of paddle skis and might be able for a fee to go and show you the reef. We fish down south of Maputo mostly and then further north at chidenguele.

Thanks for the response.

I tried the "follow a local" trick, I was on my fishing ski and turned back when my gps said I was 5km out. The wind started to pick up and I had to paddle back straight into it. About halfway back I got a lucky strike... double-up on a 14 and 15 kg yellowfin. The wind was blowing me further and further out (and away from the fish). After about 40min I managed to land the fish, I was broken, arms stuffed and now had to paddle 4km back into about a 15 knot wind. However, the whole time I never saw a single bit of reef on my echo.

please I will be going over Christmas and don't want to look bad in front of the family :)

Dude Manhica is like 80kms from me....I don't have any marked spots for Calanga, but YES there's fish for sure, I did catch some Serra from the beach, years ago...following a local = good tip, birds will give you a general idea, of course you cannot paddle that fast....LOL... Here's a tip for Calanga....sometimes the water is very very clear (no wind etc)...there's high dunes....Walk up the dunes...check for reefs...that is how I spotted some broken reefs from Macaneta - Calanga - Bilene - Zongoene....it might sound like a fools tip, or a wasted exercise to you, but I learned the hard way in Moz over a 20yr period, consulting old charts / maps...later on the internet - then updated charts, watching locals etc... Back in the day, when I use to go out on my boat (GPS / FF fitted) I did not use it as much, I called it 'hit + miss' trips with success. There's a South African chap, they go to Calanga often, it's in the SA fishing mags - Tuna etc... Follow Malboer's tip on kayaks, although we have x 4 - I have not had time for the past 3 years to enjoy my sport but will start up in March again...Good luck

Sorry I do not have personal way points for Bilene, but I do know a lot of Bilene that have or might have...Silly question are you on the Mozambique Facebook pages, again about 4 people asked for waypoints Maputo - up to Bilene?

Yup, there are a few people asking but there does not seem to be many people with these way points for the Bilene Area
