Vaal River, Villiers

Took the family for a weekend of fishing and boating at villiers this weekend.  We arrived on friday, but only started fishing saturday morning(weather wasnt all that good).

First fish was lost about 15Mins into the fight due to the three way swivel failing. (I still have the one piece where the main line ties onto).  The rest of the day went well with a total of nine fish all carp biggest being 4kg. The rain came again at about six and didnt stop till after two in the morning, so we could fish at night.

Sunday morning another 7 fish biggest 3kg. We had an awesome weekend, and if it hadnt been for the weather, we would have probably landed allot more fish.

One serious concern that i do have is that we took out about seven illegal gill nets that were put in the river by the squatters that live on the other side of the highway. They have these nets set up about every 150 meters right across the river, and i am sure that this is not helping the fishing at all.

All the fish were caught on sweet white dough, with a floaty, And dipped in honey glow. Nothing on the bom.

I have noooo idea that was the only one that looked so funny, but was the biggest fish my 9 year old has ever caught. All the other fish were very healthy, specially the mirrors. I will be going back there soon to get the ones that got away, i got a few things i wanna try.......

Sure, the telephone number is 058 821 0484. You can speak to jody, she will sort you out. The have camping facilitys with power points, or if you taking the wife along, you can stay in a chalet with bath and kitchen(some even have dstv).
