Upcoming Weekend: Fishing in CPT

Binx, I have no clue either for a venue. The reefs doesn't sound bad, but it might not get as low as you'd like due to the neap tide on Saturday. The morning tide is a high tide. I was thinking of going to Mierkom (Hermanus Plaat) to give it another bash there as the water might not be that strong with the neap tide. Galjoen are also caught sommer right at the edge (seen this with my own eyes whilst watching a local fishing).

Other than that I'm open for suggestions

Well might start at aasbankies in the morning then maybe Baileys if nothing happening then maybe the reefs or the mountain or even the wall at strand, there is bound to be something coming out ?What you think

Doesn't sound bad - was lanklaas by Macassar (due to safety concerns). Maybe Mickey can give us an update on the happenings in the Strand as I've never fished from the wall before (even though there is always people fishing from it)

Well i take it you are in for saturday then? where do you think we should start considering and what time considering high is at 08h00 ?

So far I'm in for Saturday yes. I just checked the weather forcast. NW'ly winds until Sunday. Would Macassar be really such a good starting point? I've heard that G/Bay area is normally fished in NW conditions (I'm no expert - just go by what other people tell me and what I have found out myself in the past)

Hi Vinger, G/B is better on the N/W so i guess we can start in GB or the strand. I rekon fairly early as the water is high at 8h00 then we can move to the reefs a bit later on the drop or we can decide after that?

I say that it sounds like a plan to me. 06:00 at the Old Harbour in G/Bay. Nou moet ek net plan maak vir prawns. I've only got frozen prawns that were salted before I've frozen them en dan 'n kleinhuisie vol white mussel.

Fish Feeder, I have suggested a starting time of 06:00 at the Old Harbour in G/Bay, but my times are never cast in stone and if someone comes up with another time that suits the group better, I'll fall in line with those times

Hi Guys,

We fished the whole of yesterday afternoon and evening. Started at Caymans Beach and caught a nice Blacktail, then over to Blakes and caught an undersize Steenbras. We do not mention all the Klipvis and Barbels.

Starting your morning at G/B harbour is a no-no. Chances of catching anything edible worthwhile is extremely slim. Steenbras are constantly caught at the shallow end, but they do not even measure 30 cm and this is mainly during the night and they only take on prawn.

For a good days fishing, I would start at 06h00 at Caymans beach (G/B) for Galjoen, then at ±08h30 (if nothing is happening) move over to the wall for Steenbras, Kob and big 'Wildeperd' and at 11h00 move over to Blakes and the reefs and hopefully have some livebait to put out. Sunday before last at ±15h00, 5 very nice Kob were caught at the wall on sardine in the space of half an hour.

Main bait to bring is worm and prawns (mud or sand), then mussels, chokka and sardine.

Hello Binx,

We will gladly join you. The beach is about 500 metres before harbour island on the Strand side. We will be trying for some livebait from the harbour wall from ±04h30. It will be better to get together at Harbour Island at the entrance to the harbour wall (Boatclub).

Guys, may I suggest that we fish the high tide am. Think "the boss" will kill me if i cancel the dinner arrangements. I have a buddy who is keen to join...if ok. The Reefs in Strand - does this require any wading if so not too keen to go swimming. thanks again

Ok, so we will get you at Harbour Island at 06h00. For those of you early birds, we will be there from 04h30 trying for some livebait for later.

You do not have to fish the reefs or wade if you don't want to, I personally don't as I cannot stand that long (Ouballie with backproblems!), so I fish from the beach. My cell no is 083 994 3329 and Deon 076 264 5353.
