Well as you guy's all know by now the grave yard is no officially closed.So after going there and begging the guards to let us in and getting "No" for an answer, we decided to find an alternate spot.
Veez from Pm came through with his brother in law and Little Hobo also did join us from Jozi.We ended up going to Umdloti because of the safety issue at beachwood and we didnt want to end up tempting fate...
The weather was good for fishing with a light northerly wind blowing..On our arrival there we saw a few fisherman landing quite a few small greys.Wasting no time we all tackled up and I soon hooked up with 2 of these small greys.Jonah was bitten of twice and so was Veez.
As the tide started to come in the water began to pound in the shore break thus making sliding big baits very difficult.We all stuck with the throw baits which were mainly Sard And Chokka mix. Veez managed to hook into a nice shark which I still cant identify. I think it is a hound shark but im waiting for confirmation on this. This shark measured 108cm and was hooked on a sardine bait which Veez turned inside out.
The fish was Pulled out on a beachmaster and Sl50 combo with .70 leader.This was Veez biggest non ed to date and im sure he was chuffed. Toward the early morning the weeds started to fill up in the water and fishing became all that more difficult with all the junk hooking up on the lines,so we decided to call it a day.
By the time we got up to the car park Jonah and i were shocked to have noticed how far the water had come up.Where we were fishing was by that time now being washed with waves.Guy's please be aware that the water levels have not gone back to what they were it can be very dangerous for you and your tackle, it could be washed away.Always pay close attention to where the water marks are on the beach and set up well away from there.You'll never know when it could hit you,because by 5am the waves were hitting and spraying into the car park on the top,this really got us worried about what could have happened had we still been down there .
Anyway im going to post the pics of our trip, if anyone can give us confirmation on this shark i would appreciate it, Also this shark was tagged and released unharmed....
