Hi Guys.
Quick one. What are we looking at for a fully built up rod? Fuji KR concept guides, Fuji winch,shrink grips? I already have a heavy Amia but am now looking at a Kob special for heavier lures. Sounds like this rod/ blank might be a better bet irrespective of cost.
One last question. With the action as described by Enigma, could I use this rod for small (one to two ounce) poppers as well?

When you say poppers, do you mean floating poppers or sinking plugs like GT Icecreams?
It will handle them just fine.

You have a nice rod there Craig in the Dc oval range. The 12ft would be perfect cob rod for throwing in the surf in my view.
Ive been trying to tell the Exage die hards this for ages...Not actually a great casting rod at all....Now, it might have lifting power, but weight and casting is negatives. I would definitely now rather consider a Dc oval or similiar over the Exage rods.

Craig might tell me off, I wouldn't cut the tip.
Tip dia is 3.2mm. (8/64ths ie #8 tube bore)
at 1' / 305mm back its dia is 4.9mm.
Think about that....
The 12' DC is a two piece when built, but you get the blank in 3 sections:
6' tip and 6' butt section made up of an oval tube that becomes round at its end - you then insert butting tube into it with supplied thick wall carbon tube (its virtually parallel)
The 6' tip and the butt section without the butting tube will give you a 10' rod.
I will string up my 12' and hang a heavy weight on the end and take a photo so you can see the bend.
