There's a small but difficult dam walking distance from my house with some nice size carp; and really no nursery size to speak of because of a handful of barbel.
Obviously I have learnt this dam well.
The silty bottom and patches of growth have pushed me to small floaties.
I have worked the patrol routes well and also use another trick that allows me to use nothing but a plain white floatie.
Absolutely nothing else. Hook line are no longer than 8cm.
This proves to me that carp can see these floaties in light and really go for them. The theory is that they think its a piece of stray bread thrown out for the ducks. They are conditioned to go for this.
But,
at night at the patrol 'hot spot' ... this never never never works.
Put down a feeding area and floatie still doesn't work, nor a flavoured floatie or bleeding floatie.
Carp cant see in the dark?
Do floaties not work in the dark unless the water is clear and the moonlight is good?
Must you switch to hook baits that lie on the ground and are bedded in a "scented/ attractant" boll?
What is working for you in conventional carp bank angling ... in the dark?
and what have you definitely written off as not to be used at night?
I'd really like to hear your thoughts please
Cheers
