Just a short report on the TMR seminar has over the Weekend. Attended by 50 people from all over the County. Friday was just the intro and meals. Some guys went fishing and a 3 Kg cob was landed and released. Saturday was Seminar Day. Opened by Bryan Rapson....deal with fishing from a different angle..Discussion on the need to know the specie you fish for..know its habitat..its eating habit etc..Do not go to the water with the idea to catch such any fish...Go with the idea you are going to target a Spinner ..or a cob etc....Later we went on the Reading the Water..lots of data..Bryan Later was going to expand this theoretical on the beach....
The balance of the theory covered tackle , baits and knots...not the usual kind but the stuff that is normally secrets that catches good fishes..There were knots that yet to have names..There was one which was used on a carbon coated wire that really impressed us.Andrew did a in-depth review of rods and Reels. Rob impressed us with different baits and his practise on Drop-Shotting.
Later that afternoon a Casting Clinic was held on the Beach and also the theory of water reading was put in practice. Here Bryan pointed at areas along the Coastline where certain species of Fish would be landed the next day during the comp .
You think that this science of water reading is some science fictionbut the next day during the comp was I dumbstruck. The areas where Bryan indicated where spinners would be ..80 cm spinner..the areas where he indicated cod...a 82 cm cob etc etc
Saturday evening was spent around a braai with the guys .The comp was scheduled for 12.midnight to 12 noon the next day.

After the presentations on Sunday afternoon Bryan gave a small progress report on the Angling Alliance. A separates Website has been setup and should be running by the end of this week. A interim Constitution would be run from 1 Oct - 31 Dec . All members to participate Sept to give comment on the Provisional items on the Website. All members on the Committee to run the organisation will be Elected by members...all input needed from the members...There will several benefits being discussed.Some of them will be
- insurance and medical assistance for anglers during incidents
- a family assistance program when a member is hurt or killed during a angling event
- lobby groups for needs of anglers
- this will a NON PROFIT organisation
It was great Seminar and good see the angling brotherhood was alive and well.
