Tackle for the trip

HMG BLade with TN40 (Misguide)
HMG Shark Extreme Heavy with TN50
HMG AfriCast Medium 8oz with Finnor 30
Purglas /6 with Finnor 30
Purglas /8 with Tor 50

Line Alpha 0.55 Sea Grande

Hooks 12/0 eagle claw and 14/0 mustad circle hooks with Denso 12/0 trap hooks

Wire - Tuna's 500lbs soft cable (up to 5 sharks on 1 trace)

8 and 10oz Grapnels (Dups mold with long boom)

Best all round fishing reel, has to be the Tn40 best casting combination had to be the /6 with the Finnor

Africast Windon leaders 1.3 and 1.5mm. No need for a gaff with those things on and only 1 jump off by a huge (possible GW)

Monster Shake Down slides. Not one burnoff, not 1 failure and we fished some really wild water with up to 5m swell and crazy wash

Baits.

In order of success

Lesser Sand Shark
Octopus
White Stump / Bluefish (flapped)
Bonnie
Chokka
YTail

The sandy wasn't just working better because it ws more resistant to the crab. If there were 4 rods in and I slid a chunk of sandy that rod went away before any of the others.

For edibles.

Sand Prawn - everything
Octopus leg (Kob)
Sardine
Chokka Blob bait

Probably one of the best trip reports here to-date. Well done and so glad the fishing panned out given the bad weather at times.
Had no idea that the pompano went so far south!
Cheers

Lots n lots of Bluefish and Blacktail but no pic's all pretty hectic and I missed a lot of photo's as the camera got splashed wet on day 1.

Ate 2 x and used 2 x for fresh bait, got a grey on the one and lost a bus on the other.

That fish was lost due to my own fault, In eagerness to get bait in again I never checked or sharpened a circlw hook.

Had a pickup and a massive run of over 400m, slow steady and purposeful. The fish stopped, shook it's head and was gone. Reeled in and checked only to find that the tip of the circle had broken of on the rocks resulting in the hook not setting.

You know there is only one person at fault when there is tackle failure and it is only your own fault. Enough said
