Sweets Plugs

Because these plugs swim so amazingly I had to make more. I keep on getting new ideas on what to do. There are some of them in the bin though. This one is with the silver glitter that I said I'll make and post.

very nice plugs, a couple of questions, my kids have left home so what sweets are in these lovely containers?
The resin that you use is it a normal fibre glass resin or something else.
I have a few ideas on plugs and poppers just need to get the a**e into gear

Sorry this post is from my phone. Can not post a link. If you look at one of my previous threats "another up" you will see photos of the container I use as a mould. It is a 2l bottle before it is blown up. The resin I use is from a company called NCS. The resin is a clear set resin called NCS 215. I use to use fiberglass resin, but it does not set clear and had some other issues with it.

Looking very good and I reckon they will do some damage! I really like these. Wouldn't mind testing 1 or 2 for you in clear with glitter, small diameter about 75mm long.

Nice one!

Hi Ceaser

Those look good, and I am sure they will work like a charm!

You have inspired me with some ideas! I am also re-producing my own onda look-alike in polyurethane, and  I have poured the excess resin into plastic tubes with the idea of making something out of it later.... now  I Know what to make out of them.

Just some questions out of interest:

1. Do you use any sort of release agent to get your lures out of the plastic tubes?

2. For those two-tone lures, did you mix pigments into the resin or did you paint the lures?

3.Have you experienced any problems in terms of brittleness of the NCS 215 resin, with lures breaking easily?

Thanks

Andre

I do not use any release agent in the bottle mould. I just tap it lightly on the side and then pull it out. The two tone lure I use 2k paint. I pour the white first and wait untill it the white just starts to set. When the resin start to set it is like jelly, I then pour the red. I have not fished with these ones, but Im sure that they will not break apart. Bennie knows this resin well. Bennie maybe you can give better information on the strength of the resin.

Thanks Ceaser!

Just to make sure I have got it right... did you mix the 2K paint into the resin before pouring it?

I have had good success mixing food coloring pigment powders into the Smooth-cast 300 resin, and I should maybe see if that will work for casting two-tone lures...

Im doing this on my phone, hope it works. To make the shorter plugs I cut the bottle in half. Makes the pouring easier.

I mix the 2k in the resin before I pour it. I have only tried the 2k, works well.
