well up nice n early this mornin jump on bike ,rip over to get half lb rag for a dabble in river [alde], and to try out the evo !
got on water 10 ish and went to middle of water for roll off ,get on practice...the first time i tried to flip her she nearly done a 360
...very light to turn over and easy as to get back on again , first thoughts was how she glided over the water and paddlin seemed effortless...seemed a little unstable at first but bearin in mind how light the evo is and thinkin about first time in elite it was probably just me ..so thats me done and now for the dabble ..never took much with me , one rod with small fixed spool reel loaded with 16lb vanish ..couple of spare rigs n box of size 3 aberdeen match hooks ..no anchor [lost that] so a bit of driftin would be cool for today
as you can see the water was flat n murcky..never clear in here
tide was high and slowing to peak ..stuck an oz bomb with a big ish worm on and started a very slow paddle just enough to keep her straight , no sooner had i settled into a rythym when the rod gave tell tale rattle , yum yum bite ma bum ..and were off ,two mins later and my first bass on ma new toy , albeit a very small one ..but its fishin an a love it in here
wasnt happy about the mess it made na its blood but no ma blood , quick snap and cut hook off as it wasnt worth the bother and fiesty wee bass went back to fight another day !!
same again 10 mins later rat a tat tat...lovely ,another wee fish but bigger at mabee 35 cms [lb ish]..great and they just kept coming every ten mins or so i was pulling them in and putting them back ...something ive learned about small basslets if you keep them in water and just get long nosed pliers to flick them off ..it doesnt scare the rest off , then again its only guess work !!
i dont see the point in handlin them if your not taking them home [tree huggin ]...decided to try round the only structure about which was boats moored up at buoys, driftin past them as close as i could without snaggin on the moorings ..not a lot was happening so up wiith rod and went for the power paddle ...it just gets better the more im in this baby , about 40 mins later needed to pee and found a wee bay ,sort of sand n shelly type ground ..time for pic
she looks right at home there , anyway am back in middle of flow mabee half way through to low water , itwas mostly the same stamp of fish 7/8 ins ..but great fun , there was a dude fishin from small gin palace [mery fisher]nice boat ..went to have the crack and was holdin onto his fender talkin fish n pish !!he said you have a bite ..just a nibble i thought and it went again ...ah ha this was more like it ..i put a good bend on ma wee rod , 5mins later and av got ma first keeper , lovely fish that put up a good wee scrap ...was goin to get camera out...but thought better not cos it was mad to get away ,so straight in to fish hatch and slipped hook off inside [ no esape for this one] the dude in boat was more happier than me cos he hadnt seen a fish bigger than the 7/8ins ..so that was him rushin to get more bait on ...he says hold the fish and i will take a pic of you with it ...and am thinkin the bass and the evo take good pics but me ...naa ..not photogenic me , i was in lake district a few years ago on holiday and won a girning comp and a was only goin past on a bike !!

times gettin on and ma buddy is taking his wife out so called him n told him a would be half hour so he could pick me up ...
had a great day out ..fishin could have been better but thats fishin
