We have a very big garden, and alot of those spiders on the stoep, if they dont bother us we leave them where ever they are. If somewhere uncomfortable we just put them back in the garden. Usually I just let them walk onto my hand and move them... Have not been bitten yet.

They do alot more good than bad

Ha I remember being in the middle of a massive parktown prawn migration while on guard duty in the army in Lohathla! They were everywhere, ugly as but harmless..

:lol:1  talk about Townies!

My 7 year old grandniece would wet herself laughing... nothing scares her be it spiders, snakes, crabs, kreef or thunder having grown up on the farm.

She even shoots at a target with my old Remington .22LR and .25 popup barrel Taurus!

Julle ouens moenie alle spinnies doodmaak nie ! Daar is net 4 giftige spinnekoppe in SA

Swart en bruin knopiespinnekoppe.
Viool spinnekop
Sak spinnekop

As long as they dont do it close to me ! I HATE snakes and spiders, and for spiders, I have Lots of Doom in the house

Wife was bitten by a Violin spider a few years ago, still has the marks

In JHB I was driving home towards Melville from Parktown (next to railway lines - 3 or 4 lanes) when a spider decided to go Tarzan on itself and come sliding down its "rope" right next to me, quick as a flash I had to car in Neutral, handbrake up (doing about 60km/h and got out on the passenger side ( was contrlling steering from passenger side). Refused to get back into car until traffics found the spider.

Ek DOOM n ding, kla !

You might want to re-think killing spiders after reading below:

Getting bitten by one might not be such a bad thing

Rain spiders can chill in the house and eat the mozzies as far as I'm concerned. Anything more dangerous-looking goes outside. Centipedes though... The way those things move freak me right out. I don't kill snakes, scorpions or spiders, but centipedes get the bottom of the boot.

Ah and those wierd cockroach things that can fly short distances - not parkies, but similar, that you get in Knysna - seen them eat rain spiders - I kill those too, along with their normal cockroach brothers... Evil little creatures.

Bobb... although the idea of rainspiders eating mozzies makes you sleep better at night.....

The distance between the 2 teeth of a rainspider could fit about 5 mozzies inbetween. They simply don't hunt the small little bugs that annoy us.

What they do actively hunt is gecko's, the exact thing you want in your house to catch the mozzies!!!!!

Golden Orb Spider?

anyone?

For some unexplained reason if there is a golden orb weaver web anywhere within 100m of me I will eventually walk right into that nasty yellow mess!

Sending shivers down my spine!
