u plannin on sliding live or dead ?

Hiya Habib,

I mostly silde dead baits, unless small elf or cob comes my way. Anything bigger gets put out on a swim bait rig.

I recon the chance increases of getting the slide tangled whne sliding larger live baits. I know the guys do, but its' porberly pot luck that no tangle happens.

Picked up some nice fresh mackies on Friday, but the wind and weather has been crazy this weekend! Hopefully Sunday it will improve!

tell me.....wats ur opinion on the lenght of a slide trace??
sum say short.....sum say long??......is there a difference or are there pros and cons to both?

Hiya habib,

I make all my double 'J' hook slides about a meter long and find that this works well both in the surf, rocks and piers.

I have made my new circle hook lengths a bit longer at about 1.2 meters. I did this as an experiment just to allow that bit of extra length for the bait to be chomped right inside the sharks mouth.

I'll stick to 1 - 1.2 meters?

then there are sum that make it as short as 500mm and say that its far better than the longer ones.......sumtin about the shorter the better to reduce tangles and also if ur bait is frozen.....it floats so the shorter trace helps keeping it down as opposed to havin a 1m trace with the bait floating instead of sliding down....

me personally keep mine to about a meter....and so far so good
