Sodwana regulations

Hi

I'm off to Sodwana this weekend.  Couple of quick questions: Are you allowed to collect sea lice there seeing that it's a protected area? Also, how far up the beach can you drive (north)?  Are you alllowed/can you also drive south on the beach?  Any good spots from the shore?

Sodwana is a Marine reserve... no bait collection is allowed.

Driving on the beach allowed "for launching boats", North up to the marker, about 1km. No driving South.

Hi,

 

There is roumour that 5 veihcle permits can be bought to drive South along the beach  from Sodwana.

I know two people that have done this but permits are somewhere in the region of R1500 per day and are only open around "Springs".

As I say cannot confirm this and it is purely hearsay.

Anything that'll bite basically!  Will fish mostly from the shore, but hopefully weather permitting will go out on a boat for a day. But I hear the fishing is slow at the moment.

On the contrary spoke to a guy says the greenspot and Bluefin Kingies are full up in the bay especially on spring high.

Sharks in all forms n sizes can also be caught in the bay especially on a dropping tide just beware you need to be very movious down the beach as they round the reef and break you up on the bricks.

Also saw a 35kg GT comeout in the bay last year especially if the shad are around them beeg GT's move in thick and fast.

Pompano and other edibles up North from the bay.

gee, that's reassuring!  The drive up from Bloemfontein is a long one, and the drive back even longer if you caught nothing!! 

I'll be after the sharks, but the rest of my crowd would be happy to target any of the edibles. Thanks man!
