HP, bro breede garrick especially the 5kg+ fish can drive you mad, i have managed to catch a few 80cm+ fish on fly but hard work, and they seem to like the fly more than the drop shot. best is live bait and a 10kg fish on 8 lb fireline and an excellor 2500 is huge amount of fun!

The retrieve:
My most successful retrieve (the one I used here) aims to put as big a shockwave in the water as possible. I achieve this by allowing just the smallest amount of slack in the line and then jerk the lure while reeling in. The line snaps as it tightens and gives a thump on the lure. I repeat this all the way to the side. I also vary this retieve by doing 2 or even 3 thumps at a time.
A friend fishing with me also landed springer on the 3" sensation minnow and also used the thump retieve.
