basslover, as soon as the water heats up a tad (shallows first) then you can get them, we've goten bass in the middle of a really cold span at 06:30 in the morning already and then throughout the entire day. they do slow down a bit round ten till about two in the afternoon, but then its back to a fish/cast......... on winterdays that didn't see a too cold night (way down to the low single figures) prior you can get them very early, when the steam still rises from the water but then you gotta thump the thick vegetation on the banks as the waters in there are generally a bit warmer than in the open.......
