I had a great time on our first social comp. Thanks to all the guys for their advice, help and tips.

From all the member That I have met I have to say that we really have a fantastic membership.

On the fishing side we all caught a great sun tan although some of us did'nt really need one.

I had 2 good pulls on my rod, 1 was a  sizable bunch of sea weed and the other was a mixture of weed and plastic, both made the competition limit of 2 kg for non edibles.

Thanks to Ronald for initiating the event and to Jonah,Dinesh and all the officials for their effort and hard work.

well done guys.

Hello Everybody,

Sealine Social Competition/Event (21/01/07) was a success.

Registration(Blue lagoon) commenced  at 6:30am & ended at 7:15am. A total  of 30 members registered. Sealine T-shirts & bumper stickers were handed out to all present.

The group decided to fish at beachwood. Weather panned out fine. Temp was around 30deg excl the discomfort index. A mild 7knot blew which increased as the day wore on .... Plenty sea-weed about.

There was no measureable catch on the day & the decision was taken to have a carryover. Suggestions were made for a gathering this Saturday at Umdhloti beach from 7pm till 12. Prize may be split up for 1st. 2nd & 3rd place.

Officials were approached by many members regarding the formation of the Sealine Angling Club > Its on the table, & discussions are been made. Interested persons to contact officials regardin the club or send an email to theclub@sealine.co.za.

Thanks to Sealine officials for co-cordinating the event & for enthusiastic members for pitching ....  A fun day was had by all. Register taken on the day is as follows.....

Hey evryone.

Yep it was a great day, sad that there was no fish.

I did however go to Blue Lagoon after the Comp. and mesed around with some Stonies, but after losing two traces (Courtesy of Khani) I got fed up. A while later I noticed two guys hooks got bit off....and you guys know what that means (SHAD), so I rigged up my light rod, and yep, you guessed it. Shad, I managed to catch two, but the wind and the heavy water started to make it difficult.

SO Khani, I guess the first Shad wasn't a fluke.

Thanks guys, for a great day.

Tight Lines.

Even though no fish were caught, its cool getn together... tink the closest i got to sea weed was my gf moms brocolli and white sauce dish;) If the next compo is at night, is the parking safe enough at Umhloti?

Hey Ronald,

I think Emperor has correctly moved some of the competition posting from Saltwater section to the competition and tournament section, otherwise only you and the Administrator can edit your post.

Anyway what did we miss in your post.

Good morning gentlemen, I think for us amatuers this competition was actually well planned and co-ordinated and we thoroughly enjoyed the outing.  The informal approach is just great.

As for Saturday nite, it is a boogie nite, but my buddies and I should (!) be there.  We will confirm numbers  later this week.

Thanks to everyone for making the effort to make this inaugaral outing a success.;)

Sorry I missed the comp Sunday.

Got off to a late start, arriving at Blue Lagoon

at 7.30 AM.

Stopped in at Virginia, couldn't see if the comp

was there. Forgot to take cell no's to call someone.

Anyway proceeded to Umhlanga Lighthouse.

Got one Blacktip shark of 9/10Kg at about 12 noon.

That was the only pull for anyone there the whole day!

Very quiet, and there were a few serious club guys

fishing for greys there as well.

(Caught the Blacktip on a whole sardine with a

baby squid wrapper slide bait.)

Got good suntan too! It was hot hey!

By the way, you know when your bait is out for long, no action

anywhere, and you get bored. Well that was the case on Sunday.

Just stripped to my speedo to jump in and cool off when the reel

screamed. Must have looked a sight playing the fish in speedo

and no bucket!!!
