Leonard, maybe you can comment on the above quote, what would be the best dates for the fishing, and where is the best accomodation that will be avaliable

Howzit Guy's

Well i see there is alot of interest in this topic.I have a few sugesstions.

Firstly i think we need to take our time in planning this event so as not to have any hickups along the way.The idea is fantastic but it will also need  alot of planning if we going to be able to pull it of.

We also have to take into account the affordability factor because im sure its not going to be very cheap especially for the guy's travelling down from CT.July holidays's i feel is out because accomadation will be in peak season therefore making it very expensive and also very hard to find in durban. We have to optimise the times we fish so that the weekend is worth while for all the members who travell long distances.

We have to check and see exactly how many guy's in the CT area do want to come down and also other provinces. All monies for accmadation will have to paid early so as not to confuse the issue and also delay the event and confirmation.I think what we need to do is get all the members from all the provinces to check their availabilty and times and affordability and then post their names on a list so that we can work from there.

Then we also have to take into account that there might be cancellations etc..This will definately have to be sorted out way before the time as this could hamper the total cost of the event.Im sorry to sound like such a drag but these are the things that go along with planing an event like this and we dont want it to be a flop or just another headache. So i feel we should all work together and iron out all the nitty gritty then Emperor can do the finalisation and let us know whats up..

Just My 2cents ...

Cheers Riymos

Riymos,

I think you hit the nail on the head with that post, the organising will have to be done very well to make tis event a success and mak it memorable for all involved.

If we can get by show of numbers who will be keen to take part it would be nice to start like that. If the guys in Durban can be on the look out for accomodation it can be done in no time. If we all work together on this we can make it a success and even a frequent comp for all sealine members young and old.

If anyone has any coments on how to make this event even better please let us know so we can take them into consideration

Howzit guys, opened this thread with alot of excitement...I think it is a great idea...Sealine Challenge....it just sounds great...lets hope that Admin can put this one together...Also on this Social Competition note, is there any news about the next Sealine Social Competition, cos the fishing is hotting up everywhere, and i think that we are losing out on some excellant opportunites for good competition results, the longer we let it go....I think that we have some good times coming up, so as the saying goes...lets make hay while the sun shines....Keep us posted Admin...

Hi guys

With regards to some points for organising such an event I would like to suggest the following

  1. Get a register going for member from each province willing to enter[/*]
  2. Decide on a weekend...suggest the two mid weeks as begin/end of month is difficult for most working/business people...14/15 0r 21/22 ...14 is new moon[/*]
  3. With regards to accomdation...suggest tented accomdation on the beach....is possible at Hibberdene ?????...it will a lot cheaper and those who want to fish 24/7 can do so.[/*]
  4. Lets start with the numbers first and see if it justifies the social[/*]
  5. Once the numbers are in...put together a Co-Ordinating commitee with a few members from each province with a admin function from KZN.[/*]
  6. Allocate differents to different members ..and go from there[/*]
  7. Make a cut off date to start the decision making process..suggest End April to get all names unto the register[/*]
  8. Get the Organising Committee going by First Week May..this gives approx 8 weeks to organise and make it happen.

Jace,

I like your suggestions, it is a good way to get things going. but who is going to put up a register, or do we just say if we are going on the post. what happens if there are not enough people commited to going on the comp

Thats a great idea Jace...Got to get the numbers first, to assess the level of commitment from the interested members...and to look at the feasability of such a Social Competition/Challenge...I also think that there should be a minimum number of participants, eg. 30 members, so we can get an indication of the accomodation needed, so that enquiries on accomodation pricing can be based on this minimum number...There are a few places down the coast that offer campsites, an example in Hibberdene would be Carousel Caravan Park....or little up the coast would be Park Rynie...Buts lets get the numbers in first...to see where we stand... Good on you Jace...

Hi Binx

Lets start it going..as you being the first one from Cape...lets see how its goes with regard to the numbers..therefore I suggested an early cut off date as end April...this might give a chance to look at something else...

Lets See the numbers First.
