Saltiga 6000 Surf

I got the reel, now I need to know what line to put on. The purpose will be to cast it a mile with a #3 bullet spoon (surf), and to be able to land a big GT on a popper from a boat.

Braid. No question about that. Casting braid in particular. Look for Suffix or Powerpro. I use both on different reels.

That is step one. Step two, buy a Castaway Cannon (Bionic Finger). Step three, buy the appropriate rod. Step four, never cease to see the amazement on the 'traditional surfcaster's' faces...

Now comes the tricky part.... catching the fish. Hats off to the traditional surfcasters.::respekt:

You are welcome. Personally I use 30lb, but it will all depend on where you're fishing. Rocky areas will need at least 30lb.

Recently in a spinning article, the author also mentioned, that he actually cast further with the 30lb, than with his 20lb. Have to look it up again, but that basically made the choice for me.

I would also suggest having a spare spool on hand. Maybe 20lb on the one and 30lb on the other.

Also, when buying casting braid, you will also find that the Suffix brand has one with different colors, which you can use to quickly determine the actual distance, with each cast.

Cool, I'll go for the 30lb with the different colours.

Thanks again.

Got an email this morning for Basil Manning, my spoons will be delivered today. I'm feel like a kid that can't wait to get and open a Xmas prezzy
