guys how big do you think my barbel was?go have a look in the fresh water gallery!remember this was caught on a whole chicken
LEONARD,
Please give us a few clues ,firstly can you pick up and hold a 25 kg bag of Portland cement in front of you ,like you're holding the Barbel ,if it feels slightly more uncomfortable than the Barbel ,then it could be that the barbel weighs slightly less than the cement, say maybe 18 or 19 kg's.
Then again, bearing in mind that it took a whole chicken as bait,(notwithstanding the fact that a small Milkie-shark can eventually eat your whole slide chokka),it would be important to know what the chicken weighed, also if the chicken was plucked or not ,had it intestines in tact ,and wether it was a plump free-range chicken or one of those terribly healthy,low-fat,battery chickens.
If it was the latter then add maybe 1.5 kilos,If free-range with intestines, you may generously add 2.5-3 kilos,if the bait was swallowed, and not regurgitated prior to landing.
Ag the hell with it Lenny,it is a beautiful specimen and it does'nt really matter what it weighs, although at first glance it looks like a 40 pounder, but thats not the reason a bloke like you, who have caught more than your fair share of fish actually fishes,is it now.Congratulations on a great catch and believe me, you are being envied big-time.
At least now you should have a hint of a smile on your face, and a dream- catch in your bag.
Cheers buddy

LOL.
P.S GOODLUCK WITH THE MOVE TO PLETT.
