My father got a daiwa reel from someone that I would like to use for barbel but unfortunately the reel has a few "ditches" cut into the frame by line... Is it possible to fix it?
Sanding it down seems like an obvious solution.
My Q is:- what product to coat it with afterwards to repel saltwater/moisture?
Let's hope for some tried and tested replies
You don't have to coat or treat the reel. Just rinse it after use.
My Saltist looked nasty from scratches in the soft coating so about 5 years ago I used paint stripper and stripped it to the cast aluminium frame. Been a raw alu frame for 5 years and shows no signs of corrosion and is much hardier than the original coating.
