Rod storage at home

I need to make some storage racks in my garage for all my rods.

How do you guys store your rods, what sort of racks are you using? Are you storing them vertically/ horizontaly?

If possible could you post some pics?

Hiya

For your smaller rods, visit Tony at False Bay Tackle at Simons Town (FBYC). I bought a wooden rod rack from him just before i came to Canada. These are the same upright rod racks that many fishing shops display their rods on. R350-400, can't recall the exact price. REALLY nice looking wooden racks.

For my surf rods, i simply bought these metal all purpose holders from De-la-rey/Builder Wharehouse. Holds two long rods NEXT to each other. Really cheap and looks good.

Unless you have one of these "Fishing Caddys". I can make them custom to your needs.

My wife wont allow the rods and reels in the bedroom,
so I bought these horizontal mount, rod racks for my
dropshot and light tackle rods and these are on the garage wall.
The larger surf caster and rock spinning rods go into their cases
and up onto the all purpose holders above them.

Not sure this would help anyone with rods over 8ft but this is how I do it.

A simple clip that you can buy from pick and pay and any hardware.
A piece of pine and a few screws. I then put tubing over the clips so as to stop them scratching the rods. I use heat shrink on the clips too but that is of late.

Nepptune has made the "larney version" of this. But my rods actually come off the rack so larney is not necessary.
EISH I am gunna pay for that chirp. Sorry skip I thought you said release that one...:fbash

Hi Dorado75

I used a 100X25 piece of pine, a 40mm hole saw, and a jigsaw to make my rod storage rack for the garage. Just cut holes with equal spaces between them, then slot with the jigsaw. Easy! Mine stores 5 rods horisontally.

Wow, Louis, I see your handicap's been cancelled. Cart looks brilliant, lower centre of gravity so no more of those crashes, lol. Do we need a licence for them now?

You must have a very understanding wife, Rods in the spare room, unheard of, or is that your Pub area?

My whole family fish. There is not a room in the house that doesn't have some line, a rod, reel or lure hanging somewhere.
As for pictures of tuna and the family - everywhere.
Every spare wooden pillar has a nail that will have a lure or daisy chain hanging from it somewhere.

Just lucky they all share the same sport. Although the aunty does get a little peeved when Dylan leaves all his yamashita skirts with hooks in the bath...

And oh ja, that's actually my office.

My rods are stored vertically behind my bedroom door. My wife didn't stand a chance in the argument. I don't have a garage, only car port, so that was the obvious place. Only rule: NO exposed hooks, as I have a very inquisitive 3-year-old boy.

changed my vertical stored rods to roof rack in garage, my two year old boy enjoyed it to have a selection of rods to choose from on the vertical rack.

This how I do it. Just to many rods together because I am a fishermad.LOL  Use gutter brackets. They are easy to put up and support you rods well.

This is so absolutely true!!! The first time I walked into HT house, it was like walking into a Tackle Shop... not only because there is a bunch of Tackle, but because of how well laid out it all is, and catalogued... and because it was everywhere and I wanted most of it!!:wfish

Seeing HT's set up, inspried me to do this with mine.
