Thanks Pietman,
when I posted, the results were not yet available on SASAA's website, but I see they've updated their website. But thanks anyway for your response. I just don't understand how selections are made sometimes. I know it's based on 50/30/20-basis for the last 3 years, but some anglers are ranked 2nd according to this criteria, but is only selected to the President's Team. Shouldn't this ranking be the determining factor for the selection of the teams? So, if you are ranked 1-6, you should automatically be selected for Protea Colors. I know it's a very simplistic way of looking at it, but shouldn't this be the case? I know you can have a bad tournament, but the selection on the 3-year ranking basis is exactly the reason why this shouldn't influence your selection. Confusing.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think you must have fished for a presidents side first before you are eligible for a protea team in the senior devision.

It was explained to me that the 1st 4 over 3 years makes the side the from 5 to 12 they choose 2 guys. My opinion, the side they chose are all great anglers and fit for the team....

Ja ok as far as Iknow it works like this.
The choosen team must be out of the the top 12 anglers on the three year points ranking. The previous years Protea anglers will have a advantage if they did perform on the internationals and is in the top 12 rankings. The top 3 anglers on the 3 year rankings should be in the team if available.

Please don't misunderstand me. I don't have a problem with any of the anglers chosen for the Protea or President Team. They're all excellent anglers and all of them deserve to be in the team. They've all proven themselves for several years now.
My question is: Shouldn't your ranking over 3 years be the determining factor for selection to the Protea Team, irrespective of whether you've previously been selected to the Protea or President's Team? This proves that you've consistently performed over a 3-year period, or is this just a too simplistic way of looking at it?
If you look at the President A Team, guys like Greg Sutherland and R Scheepers probably didn't have the best of tournaments, but they're ranked 2nd and 6th over a 3-year period respectively. If you look at their 2012 rankings, they were ranked 6th and 9th respectively. R Scheepers have already been selected to the President A Team in 2012. On the other hand, if you look at the rankings of the guys selected for the Protea Team Greg Brown (1), Theo Herbst (3), Christo v/d Berg (4) Charl Marais, (5), Gerhard Guse (10) and Hannes Botha (11), is there anyone that didn't deserve his place? MOST DEFINATELY NOT. The guys that are ranked in the top 6 choose themselves. Gerhard Guse is a legend and was ranked 1st in 2012. Hannes Botha is also a Protea angler (selected in 2011). There are also several other anglers that were previously in the Protea and President A Team, that are all excellent anglers and perhaps didn't have the best of tournaments. However, they would all be an asset to any Protea or President Team. Hence my question, shouldn't the 3-year ranking be the determining factor?
