Howsit Guys,:goodmc thinking of taking a drive upto to the Richards Bay area this weekend, can you guys please inform me about the local spots - Where to fish, what to fish for, How to get there!!!

Ok now listen carefully..take the n2 from tongaat and proceed north thru 3 toll plaza's. 130km from tongaat you will find a board showing the richards bay offramp..take off ramp and turn right,proceed straight down the highway for approx 8 to 10 km..carefull not to turn anywhere as u will end up in a location you will pass all the big industry and into merensee..continue straight on following the boards directing u to the harbour mouth..the fishing off the dolices there is pretty decent..unfortunately our richards bay specialist are gone to moz for the long weekend..hope this helps..

I am thinking off going up to to Richard bay this weekend,(after the holidays.Where is a good place to camp/chalet where the fishing is not to far?

Why not go a extra 20kms and go to mapelane,I was there on sunday and caught a few shad and 2 stumpies at crayfish corner.all were size.The only problem is the walk,unless you get a beach permit{R250.00} then you can drive to ledges and cath decent fish.

Last time I was there it wasent very safe!

The kids and vrou are going too.

Has the safety been improved?

We actualy go to mapelane at least once a month and have not heard of any problems for a while now.As long as you are vigilant i cant see any problems.The old man in charge of the parksboard there,i think his name is willie is quite clued up to the thieves they also have a local sequrity company working there so i think all will go well.Just dont leave valubles lying around.<temptation is always a problem in africa>
