Respraying a reel

This is the first reel i brought into SA 3 years ago and it was badly scratched and sounded terible! Look how nice?? It took me about 2 hours to strip it, sand blast it and do the respray, i used a normal aerosol spray that can be bought from your local hard wear shop, i gave it 3 coats so it wont scratch easily.

Very nicely done Darius!

Mind you, I would have thought that you'd go for a more psychedelic look judging by all the bling bling knobs you lot where perving over the other day...

I think I'm gonna attempt this with one of my saltists but I may opt for a late WW2 SS camo pattern.

Seriously though, it looks great!

and u say it on this glorious day, when 65 years ago the Soviet army, represented by georgian M.Kantaria and soviet M.Yegorov hoisted the Red flag over the Reichstag, the official day marking the defeat of the the Nazis and liberation of the world from Hitler's tyrany

as well as on the day that first time in history the ex Allied forces participate in the parade on the Red Square marching together in unison with the Russian army...

i would think ud know ur history better...lol
ps Reel looks great

Good job Whaler! Looks kieff bru!

I recently sanded my Saltist down using a Dremel and manually with 800 and 1200 grit Sandpaper, polished it up with a Dremel, put my name on and then coated it with about 5 coats of Rustoleum Clear Gloss spray...

Hiya Reefman,

It hurts me to say this, but thats a good looking Saltist. LoL

I will have to ask Albatross to post his re-sprayed Saltist...being German you can TRUST it will look 1st class.

He has not even shown us yet, but the inside track says it looks great?

I thought so, I mean you work with the dental daily and should be a master with it as is evident in the engraving you did. Nice one Tony!! hope you sterilised the equipment before you used it on your reel::S, and where did you do this @ home or @ the office? Just wondering if you're also as bad as some of us that take our fishing to work, and get some done in tea-time, if not then under the desk in meetings?

Enigma... a Dremel tool is a cordless hand-held drill... with different bits that fit the ends... very useful tool to have for all hobby work
