Lets read about your thoughts.regarding correct corrosion protection treatment. Conventional and baitcast your feedback will be much appreciated.
Heres what i do and its quite methodical and gets done religiously each fishing trip etc,
Starting off, if i have some fresh water with me a rinse off during the fishing trip, when day is over , reel comes off, gets a rinse in warm water, a spin on the spool, gets wiped dry, drag loosened, most times leave reel in free spool, after every couple of outings, the same procedure followed by oiling of bearings, grease, drag washers, etc. Every 2 years or so, change of bearings , reels always look like new. I dont wear any kind of jewelery that can scratch my reels, wedding rings and watches are the worst! I have neoprene reel covers for my reels when transporting to and from beach, on the odd occassion i will keep the reels on the rod if the fish are biting and i forsee an early start to the day!
