Hi splasher, docphil and johann I have been very busy working hard to serve my clients. Please note that lithium works but is not the best product out there for salt water protection. Calcium suplhonate complex is the best grease you will find anywhere in the world for salt water protection, this is hard fact. These are industrial anti corrosive greases. I have several different makes in my cupboard. The aluminium complex grease Alan uses by yamaha has changed the formula years back, I dont like it the newer one but have tried it also. The old formula was great. This was the go to grease but there have been advancements with makes, the one I mentioned is unbeatable in terms of salt water corrosion protection. Bind this grease with PAO SYNTHETIC base oils and you have the very best product for corrosion protection and friction protection too. The white grease you seen me use is made by lubriplate and not as one person stated sending people in the opposite direction SHAME. This grease is the best standard produced grease I have used. I have a tub but it is too expensive to import now. For the experts on the site the anti old salt brigade I am certain will be reading this post with baited breath lol. I have used just about every good grease made world wide I should have over 30 greases all speciality items in my tested arsenal. I have also tested and compared the best greases also. Some performed admirally others really suprised me. With my testing I dont use a humidity cabinet or 5 percent salt water spray I use sea water and the weather so real testing conditions not simulated as they not as destructive . lubriplate and keystone there sister company started speciality greases in the 1800, s i have from both companys.
If you look at the sky blueish grease I use in my pics this is what I mix and outperforms any of the greases i have used over the years in terms of corrosion, lubrication, stability, longitivity, cushioning, galling and wash out from below 30 degrees to over 240 degrees and this is celsius not ferreneit.
This is much much more protection than anyone would need from tuna reels to bass fishing so i sleep peacefully and my clients experience the difference too.
So there you go gents some interesting information. I have been doing this for nearly 30 years now so wheather you like me or dont I should have learnt something along the way, take note I dont say I know it all but have learnt lots over time.
Enjoy the reading I think this would add value to anyone working on reels, so you would now have leanrt some important detail pertaining to greases.
