I'm keen to go there on Sunday as well. I'd rather be going in a group than alone, just because I really don't know the setup there.

I remember running around in the veld & quarry and some shaft running into the ground, when we were kids. Crazy to think how dangerous it was...

The place is still packed with vagrants so leave your stuff in your car and park at the tennis club. The carry all your stuff to the gate or if we are a couple of guys we can drop off the stuff and leave a couple of guys to babysit the gear while we park the cars.
As far as I know there is a gaurd that collects money, but I don't know how much.

I can join you for a couple of hours on sunday?

Doe anyone have an up to date experience with this place? I've spent the last 2 hours just reading this forum, lots of great info. What is the protocol for gaining access at the moment?

I was wondering why the fishing went so backwards at the quarry. Now you risk life and limb to find well educated fish.... Nice....

Hey Guys,

Is this place still worth a visit? I just read the whole thread, Big Thumbs up to all that managed to get fishing on the roll there.

Has anyone been here lately?

I drive past the place everyday (with very fond memories), but unless something is done about all the vagrants, I just dont think its worth the risk...

If it is the old quorry close to the N1 and R21 split, I drive past there plenty, looks good there but they have started building a sort of a security vilage there with some  luxury houses next to the "quorry" it is not a quorry anymore. It has some bridges close to the r21 side, don't think it's open for the public, if it is, it's a very well kept secret.

Hi, i have fished this quarry before but it was many years ago, was wondering if anyone is interested in making a group mission there sometime soon. We can fish from small inflatables and float tubes, maybe arrange to get dropped off so we don't have to worry about cars being broken into. I tried to read the entire thread but it would have taken hours, could someone enlighten me as to the current protocol for gaining access to the quarry?

There are some monsters in there!!!Best to have a boat, but fishing from the side is possible! If you dont mind the occasional swim! There's alot of structure aswell!Biggest one i have caught was 3.1kg!Will post some pic's!

Awsome place

Hi Ayoba, are you keen to organise a group mission to the quarry sometime? Really want to fish there again but too scared to go alone...

wish I could, work is keeping me too busy to organize a trip. MO is to go fish on very short notice, but I stay close to the quarry and if available it would be nice to fish it again, what a good reason to buy a float...

I am very keen to organise a group trip, i know there are lots of people interested in fishing the quarry but too scared to go alone. I have also read threads on bassfishing forum so if we could just pick a day and try to get as many people as possible it could be a great mission. Last i heard it was R100 to get in but it still seems like the arrangement is very informal, i live close by so will try drive past and speak to the security guard.

Hi Irfaan, I am still very keen to get a group together, however, there doesn't seem to be much interest. I was planning for the 3rd or 4th weekend in March so let me know if you are still keen as well as if you know anyone who would like to join!
