If only bass governing bodies were not so split up & full of politics. One could have one big happy competition with the top 10 competitors from the major bass competitions like Inanda, Albert falls, Amatola, Bass Africa classic ect ect. I personally think the bass industry is ready for something bigger. I think most bass anglers like to fish competitions. It just seems that there are to many taking place, resulting in less "full" fields for the established comps, and off course the global crisis bla bla also have something to do with it.
There is certainly enough money going around in the bass fraternity to warrant a well organised R1M tournament
Getting back to the ESA platinum series being, sadly cancelled, I think the idea was great, but it was to big to quick. Maybe they should have kept it the same, but only slightly bigger. I am sure that the same size fields would have been maintained in each province, had the number of comps at provincial level been decreased to 5 and increase the entry fees by say R500 / team, resulting in slightly better prizes. It would be interesting to know if ESA Bass was planning a comeback next year? I certainly will fish it again.
By the way, does anybody know if the Albert falls classic will still be taking place. I check the SABAA web page daily with anticipation....
