Purglass 400/3

Hi all

This weekend I got a purglass executive CQ 400/3 including these 3 reels, Penn Jigmaster 500, early 90's model Shimano speedmaster IV and a Daiwa SL50H from a family member. The rod is barely used and all 3 reels works 100%.

I want to start fishing again from the beach and rocks and I want to gather opinions from you guys today.

1.Which reel will work the best/smoothest with this rod for edibles like Galjoen?

Also how much do you think each reel is worth and the rod?

The rod feels like it weighs only about 1kg and I can easily balance it on my pinky vertically.

Ernest, you just got yourself a legendary rod there. Those Purglas 400/3 rods have been slogging it away at anything from Elf to Sharks and many fish inbetween for more years than most other brands have existed.

The reels were also all capable in their day,with the Shimano probably fitting your bill best at the moment.

Reels-Value: The fact that they got passed down from a family member makes them ............Priceless.

Fantastic rod! Mine is paired up with a grandwave 40 z but I also use my sl30 with it and both set-ups works just perfect for me.

Fantastic rods. I had one many years and still kick myself for selling it (moved to the UK at that stage). She will do you proud.

Ernest mine is also paired with a grand wave 40 from the surf it will give u good distance with a 6oz sinker. If u not going to buy a new reel I would suggest the speed master for bank fish like galjoen etc and the sl50 for kob and anything bigger.
