Are the Purglas range of rod any good for casting?

These come in one or two piece and the price start from R1100 for the 3m one-piece.

I have a purglass 12'6 rod and i must state this that i also have 13' blue marlin bazzoka's (graphites).

 

I cast further with the purglass rods than with the Bazookas.

 

i think all purglass rods are excellent.!

Ek vind maar die hele konsep baie interesant. As ek ooit upgrade wil ek weet wat daar buite is.

We launched the new Purglas 1666 range this weekend at the trade show.

3m, 3.6m and 4m

The 3.6m 1' was the rod we had at the Mint Angling Club open day where many, many people were casting with it. Total weight is 325gr with lo-rider guides. Casts a M1 with bol to 138m in the right hands

Central Gauteng has gone large on these rods and in their casting trials distances of 213m were achieved with the 13' (4m)

What makes the 12' such a great all round rod is that it has a powerful base section to faciltate casting and a nice soft tip that makes playing a fish an absolute pleasure

As with all locally made products supporting them you support local employment and as it is local they provide a warranty they can back up and spares remain available for years to come.

The 4500 in the old carp range remains popular but is heavy but the longest cast I ever saw with a M1 with a bol was with one of them at the Pretoria Defence casting league.

Jacques Fouche cast the Defence record of 182m on a so to say windstil day and over the 3 leagues he averages 168m for his 9 casts (3 per comp)

I doubt they have sold a 5000 (16') in the last 5 years but they were the absolute machines. During an open casting comp at Brackendowns I managed 212m with one and Marius Rusch cast somewhere over 220m with his

Ek het gister in n ou oewerhengelaar gelees van 2006 dat die manne wat kan gooi met n Purglas gooi. Weet nie watse tackle hulle gebruik nie, maar blykbaar 3 ouens wat al 250m plus met hulle gegooi het. Almal met Purglas.Dink die een ou se naam was Francois Pienaar, defnitief nie die rugby speler nie.

Francois broke the SA 125gr record this year with 400/7 and over 258m consistantly

He is taking the 400/7 to World Champs in Aug this year

Their casting tournaments are held at Brakendowns (Alberton) Welkom or Coleburg. Give Francois a call at 0791839872 to find out when, he also does coaching for free.

They're going to the World Angling Games in Italy some time next week where they will participate in the FIPSed World Distance Casting Championships

I can ask him once he's back from Italy.

Shouldn't be a problem, he's hosted a clinic for our province a few years back and we all learnt masses from him

I have used purglass for many years and all i can say is this.WOW!!!!
U used 14 ft and they threw a mile then one day ibust them reversing into my garage so went and got myself some 13 ft and what a machine of a rod the tip is also nice and soft so no hook pulls I rate these rods the best available but each to thier own .
