Prescription Masks

I need a prescription mask. Is this something where go can get you prescription from your optometrist and submit to the mask manufacturer or can the optometrist make lenses for your mask based on the current lenses?

Assuming this is something the optometrist will make would these lenses be tempered/shatter proof?

I also play underwater hockey so wearing contact lenses aren't that nice when your mask gets kicked off.

Any advice?

What masks can I look at which is compatible with prescription lenses? I have seen the Cressi Ocean Eyes(like it) and the Aqua Lung Look 2 (don't like it that much).

Did some research myself. For the benefit of everyone that viewed the post with no reply...

You can order masks from the manufacturers with prescriptions lenses fitted (for specific masks only). Got some quotes from Cressi. This will cost you about R1200 - R1500. Problem here is that the prescriptions only come in certain diopters, you will not get an exact match with you eyes/prescription.

If you already have mask you can have your optometrist fit lenses for you on the inside of the mask - you won't even see these. This will cost you R2300 a pop.

Or you can wear cheap contact lenses that could potentially wash out if your mask comes off.

There we go.

It might be worth your while chat to some Safety/Safety equipment companies as well. As we use safety glass at my work, they often have to incorporate these features for guys wearing glass into the safety glass specs, so perhaps some safety equipment companies might be a lead for you. Good luck
