Guys,

From what I have experienced from "dropshot" is that its basically the same tactics as Bass fishing.

Has any one tried bass fishing plastic's made for Bass for salt water "dropshot"?

Would be interesting to know what results guys had...

yes i did and honestly saltwater dropshot is better because withe the bass you just bring it in slow, theres no action you just reel it in but the take is awsome

Pearl white minnows works. Only fished it once, but had a couple of strikes that removed the tails. And they are dirt cheap compared to Berkley.

Im not a pro when it comes to dropshotting berkley plastics but ive caught a lot of saltwater fish with carolina rigged zoom flukes and tubes (Unflavoured bass fishing plastics). I call my method spinning. These fish were gamefish(Garrick and shad) so I guess that they didnt even consider the smell of the bait before they attacked but was only interested in the bait because of the movement.

When it comes to fishing on a slow retrieve the smell of the plastic becomes important..

As the berkley products are so expensive, I think that its a good idea to flavour them yourself. Flavours such as anchovie oil, crab or prawn flavour..

The freshwater guys fish with lots of flavours that doesnt even represent any natural fish food. But they do have success.

Why not try Flavouring your own bass plastics and use them in the sea?

Maybe we find that garrick cant resist a banana flavoured fish imitation!!

Ive used plain unscented bass worms and caught blacktail , bronze bream and shad but definitely had more luck with the scented worms.

It seems to make sense that one could scent the cheaper products.

as far as i can see the standard bass stuff is very similar to the Berkley stuff for 1/3rd of the price.

Has any one tried scenting a cheaper imitation of the jerk shad...am sure the results would be similar or better yet scented a imitation of the sand/cammo worm that berkley make?

Do you really think that sent make such a big difference?

I would have thought that action and color would be more of a factor.

Do you guys know of any shops in SA that have the moulds and raw materials for producing ones own soft plastic baits etc? Would be nice to be able to experiment with all kinds of additives that may be more suited to our local species?
