Please give us the details, so that we can all drooool....!Records all on light tackle Copper Steenbras on 4kg line class, two Red Stump/ Miss Lucy on 1kg and 2kg line class, Red Roman on 1kg, Snoek on 1kg line and then caught a Black Steenbras on 1kg during the 2008 December holidays, but the nearest certified scale was about 120km away and due to time constraints could not get it weighed on a assized scale.
Tagged 38 fish during 2008 (could have been more if I did not forget to take more tags with me and if ORI had given me more stock) and one recapture. The recapture is the best feeling... just gives confidence on tagging methods....

Ah, that makes sense. The way you used the figure though was presented, or at least interpreted, as 15.5kg being one of the biggest Steenbras to be caught - not exactly true.
As for treknetting, it makes my stomach turn too. These nets are indiscriminate and that 5 tons of bycatch allowed will include steenbras of all sizes. Juveniles will not escape a pilchard net, they will die as well.
Surely a matter like this needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency when such strict measures are put in place on recreational fishing activities which have much less impact on the fish stocks... Do the people responsible have brains, or what is their case?
