I just received some news from Brett of Stealth PP - Manufacturers of the stealth fishingski's regarding their annual Paindane Species Classic.

Paindane Species Classic 2007:
After months of planning and anticipation our annual Paindane Species Classic is now over.
The competition in my view was a huge success and proved that not only is it a great event but an awesome annual getaway for everyone involved.
A summary of the results would be great and some details too. So here goes…
On Tuesday before day 1 of the comp, we had a fun comp…put R20.00 in the hat, winner takes all.
Wayne “Bruino†reluctantly forked out his moola, and even he believed he wouldn’t win. But, alas, a 20Kg Ignobilis Kingfish soon sorted him out and boy was he quick to collect his cash that night at the daily prize giving. Well done Wayno….
Day 1 of the comp: 67 anglers all raring to go, was possibly the best morning of the event. Although the weather really was great over the three days this morning was the best.
Small Bonnies were jumping everywhere and reels were screaming all over the show.
Reports of released Sailfish were coming in thick and fast. The action was HOT!
Highlights were Marcus Potgieters 18Kg Ignobilis Kingfish and his five species haul, an awesome start.
Day 2: It was a little quieter for most and still loads of fish were coming in. Marcus and Brad were going head to head and the species were tallying up fast.
Day 3: The day was finally here, many a tired angler and once again a great morning. It was awesome to see everyone milling around the pinnacles and pushing hard to get those winning fish.
Finally the event was over and anxiously we all waited for the results and as with every species comp, the comp is never over till the end.
Results were tallying up and the Top 20 were as follows:number of species caught on the right…..
Marcus Potgiter 1151.34 11
Brad Arthur 736.96 8
Pierre Scholtz 297.64 6
Brian Taylor 296.8 5
Joe Matias 285.28 4
Brett Challenor 263.6 5
Brendan Kohler 217.24 4
John Roberts 176.6 4
Karl Meyers 174.6 3
Rob Waites 163.98 3
Manie Botha 152.6 5
Sean heyes 149.13 3
Mic Clarke 146.4 4
Bernie Kirsten 138.8 4
Charles Kohler 135.36 4
Craig Smerden 113.9 3
Heindrich Kleyn 107.86 3
Johan Herman 95.72 2
Peter Theunissen 91.18 2
My highlights of the comp included the following:
1. Rob “The Master†Waites – Five Sailfish in four days. Where in the world can you do this!
2. Chris Allen – Two Sailfish in one day.Great job bud…..Sorry the brains trust forgot you in the results…
3. Marcus and Brads’ awesome display of fishing techniques, perseverance, time in the water and results.
4. Over the seven days – 24 Sailfish were caught of which 22 successful releases were recorded. Unfortunately the other two died before release.
Well done to everyone!!! This is what fishing is about and showing Kayak anglers conserve our fishing too.
5. Brads’ 26.8Kg Ignobilis Monster on Monday morning.Top stuff
6. Brad and his wife Tracey going double up with Dorado’s while fishing on the Double Fishing Ski. – organized chaos!
7. Mike “The Kamekazi†Jet Ski driver trying to park the Jet Ski in the restaurant.
8. The comaraderie in the pub every night – that’s what comps are about.
9. Big Joe – last day talents – Great Job Joe!
I really look forward to planning and hosting this event next year and am excited to keep growing this event with everyone involved.
A BIG Thank You must go out to Sean Heyes for all his assistance, Mike “the Sea-Pike†Weighmaster and his trusty side-kick Tracey, without you it would never have been so smooth. Thanks again.

Russel “Love Muscle†Saddler you guys made this an amazing adventure – a BIG Thank You.
