Sealiners Help!!!

Look at this!!! How long can we let them get away with this??? We need to try and put a stop to this!!! These sharks were here many moons before humans entered the ocean! It is so unfair to kill these animals and then we are the ones invading their territory!!!

Yeh Stappies I quite agree with you.

These things are happening in all the oceans across the world. In most cases beyond our control.

As you know here in SA we have an endless struggle to keep our shore targeted fish in tact and many are in a poor state due to the endless pressures of angling.

We are probably more than twenty years behind just in our minimum fish lengths for example Garrick 700mm TL. We need min and max lengths of all fish ........ Garrick 800mm to 900mm, Kob 600mm to 800mm, Spotted Grunter 500mm to 600mm.......anything above has to be returned. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to realise that a
bigger fish produces a higher egg count.

I often wonder why the fishing is better in areas like Namibia, Angolan Coast, Mozambique. Make no mistake and as you know there are still good spells of fishing experienced along the KZN, E Cape, W Cape shores but its getting harder to find fish.

Bait fish for example red eye, mackerel, maasbanker mostly targeted by the ski boat fraternity and in my opinion should leave these fish alone and rely on artificials and only commercialy caught bait . At least this will reduce the pressure slightly. I am sure this will have a huge possitive factor on shore fishing.

Anyway just a few thoughts on the conservation issues.

As long as there are people like us that are aware of the consequences of greed and abuse we still have some hope for a turn around point.

Cheers.
