According to this there is 60% chance of showers. Which means you can fish during the other 40%.  LOL

We should not be called papgooiers anymore, instead we should be called kleitrappers.

Should have joined us at the clinic.

No rain after 08:00. Top anglers (fooling around) had over 10 fish. Watched one of the ladies take 6 weigh fish incl a 1kg Muddie in 40 minutes.

Seems winter came around early this year...."fishing season's" (as I term the time between Sep - May) been cut short twofold, what with all the floods in Dec/Jan. Spoke to some guys who fish the River around Vanderbijl alot who reckon fishing in the river after the floods has not been the same this time around.

I havent been fishing all that long, what do you guys think abt how the flooding has impacted fishing, does this kind of thing come aroud alot?

where is the UJ grounds? And the facilities? Prices?
If you mean Island Shores, it's just a couple minutes left of Deneysville (as you coming from Vereeniging) past the Dam Wall. Prices: R20 p/p R30 p/car per day. havent camped there before, so didn't pay much attention to the ablutions, except that there is running water & working toilets, I dont think there's hot water.

this is the start of the real fishing season guys. This is when you really get to see if you can and want to fish and you will be rewarded.

The tips about winter fishing really shed some light for me - smaller bait on the hook, less feed, less flavouring - the swd size of a rice kernel is something I gotta try out, Im so set on using a floatie with swd only as a backing that I never use only the dough. Got a couple of things to try out now, kinda looking forward to see how these tactics will work for me in colder months....having said that, looks like the weather improved since the last two or so weeks....wish I was at the water today...:fishn

Call me stupid, but I always reckoned that the fish will be more hungry in the winter months, wich means bigger bait..hehe...
Can someone please tell me exactly why fish goes for the smaller bait in the winter?
