Noordhoek will be holding their annual Stokvis Derby on 25 and 26 July 2009, open to anyone and everyone

I just phoned and spoke to uncle Ronnie to confirm the details

Skippers meeting will be held on 24 July 2009

Cost per angler is R 120

No cost / boat

As always there will be prizes for the top fish and lucky draws

My boat will be running with 5 anglers, myself, Trophy, Katonkel Tom, Havoc and my brother in law Sam.

Anyone else planning on going ?

rules are simple

boat must be seaworthied
skipper must have skippers licence
every angler must have the normal angling licence
limits are the same as recreational limits
pay R 120 / angler
and off you go

you can fish in whichever way you choose, be it 100lb braid or 100kg handline, it's your choice ...

no other complicated rules

fishing for hake can be boring, cos its often a waiting game. just remember guys, hook line longer than sinker line, bait flat on the bottom. Big soft baits are the order of the day. Jacopever fillets work well, but if u can get a live redeye down there then youre on! Good luck post some pics for us

If the winds do change, i will see you on the water. At the moment hake is very scares, the west of the last couple of weeks blew them to deeper water, last week the water temp was between 17.5 and 19.5 deg.

Not gonna waist my time looking for hake if only the doories is present.

Ps. Marius and his clan got some very nice geelbek over the weekend at Scoenmakerskop.

the crew on my boat know we have an unofficial agreement, if the hake don't bite we go catch something else.

But fish we gonna catch !

Mr Handline, careful of the ROD BRIGADE

Had to go out with my boat yesterday to go help a boat with mechanical problems, took 2 rods with, myself and my brother got quite a few red-romans, of which 2 were very nice size and kept and a nice Miss Lucy aswell.

As usual Doories were also found and so were the good old Karel Grootoog clan with their Uzi bites...

Keep on dreaming my friend, that day that you catch more fish than me with my handline will only happend in your dreams.

Niel to give you a fair change, i will use a rod and reel aswell. Been playing with a med heavy rod with a tld15 and 50lb braid on it, works quite well, almost as sensitive as a handline. Been looking at a Natal ski 9ft with a 10" ballie pulley and 150lb braid for some extra cracking power.
