Had our clubcomp yesterday 8 October 2011 at Cilliers Vaaldam. Final results were a total of 17 fish with a total weight of 9.519kg. I came in second while the winner caught 25 fish in total.
7 x carp
4 x grass carp
5 x mudies
1 x yellow (the other one was not weighed as it wasn't 30cm long. Dips that worked were FX/Caramel, Duiwelsdrek, Musk.
Day started off slow as the fish was far out (90m+). I realized the spot I was sitting at was only knee deep up to 40m. At around 12:00 my spot started to get very busy. Had a bite on the one rod every 5min for about an hour period. Lost a few fish in the shallows due to snags and 2 I lost while netting.
In the last hour I put Juana mielies in a single hook trace and caught 2 carp (biggest for the day of 1.5kg) and lost the last one (long line release).
All in all was a very productive day and I realised that casting all day long can really take it out of you as I was very stiff yesterday. Seems I will have to get to casting practice more often...lol!

Then I joined my uncle at another spot at Cilliers right in the sloep for some night fishing. We tried getting carp and barbel. I only get the one barbel weighing 6.2kg and lost another one due to using too small hooks on the trace for the size of bait used.
