New Street Names

I have been listening to Ecr radio station and they have been constantly debating the street name changes goverment has put in place.It may have nothing to do with fishing but i feel with regards to GPS co-ordinates changing navigation etc...It may have a detremental effect on us.

If you consider most people who now own GPS handheld or in their vehicals how would they now Navigate to remote fishing spots?What sort of effects would the name changes have on the users who are going to new remote areas and have the old system installed ie maps etc..

I just want to get an idea of what you guy's think about this especially with regards to our fishing spots..

depending on what type of GPS sysytem you have - the waypoints should remain the same irrespective of the name changes ?

Well we have the same names only mine is RIYADH lol any how i was speaking mostly about the road maps with regards to finding places in Maputu Transkie etc..Im not sure about the way points as i am a new user of a GPS myself so im still learning the ins and outs regarding this toy lol Any other info regarding the uses and also the effects on the road system will be helpfull to me,Will i now need to buy a new version of SA Street Maps ????????

I bought a Garmin 60csx in singapore  about 1 year ago still learning how to use properly do you have any info for me..

I don't have any info regarding that model - but I do believe that if you have the mapping software  on the PC you can plan your routes and name them and plot the waypoints which can then be transferred to the GPS unit via USB cable.

You can also stor POI on your PC - ie if you find a particular spot - point it out on the map and save co ordinates to the PC when you get back for future reference ..

I have an Acer N95 which only does street maps - cannot plot waypoints (problem for me ) but hey it get's me around ...

1st off check on ur gps if it says plug and play , if it does it will cost u R40 to buy the cd, and R228 to get an unlock code , the unlocks are unit specific when u buy it online so u cant hack it *trust me on this one*.

the new maps gives u all of our neighbouring countries, u can choose to install all or just specific maps only , or u can lets say load only dbn , or just kzn , or just jhb cbd  , or just gauteng.


its def worth the upgrade , if u have an older version of maps it will cost u R800 i think .


riymos if u want i can bring my cd with and u can just buy the unlock code from the net.

also once u have the unlock codes , u can use mapsource on ur comp aswell.

i have the very basic unit (street pilot ) , but i'm sure the principles are the same .


I'll bring the cd with me and we'll take it from there.

He has so many kids i don't know if he even knows he lost his son....

Just kidding i know that is cruel but i see all the kids he has and just thought id have a dig at him..
