Greetings to all Sealine Members,

I have been viewing Sealine for many years and recently decided to join so I can make better use of the facilities available.

I am an expat residing in Oz for over thirty years. I return every 2 years to visit family , friends and my favourite fishing haunts.

I would like to congratulate Admin on a great website stocked full of useful information. I look forward to sharing ideas as fishing is an ongoing learning  experience. The English poet Sir Isaac Walton got it right when he quoted"Angling could be said to be like the Mathematics in that it can never be fully learnt".

I can be classed as an old ballie but I fish regularly. I went for a 1 hour spin session this morning but blanked. That's OK as I spun up 11 Tailor ( Elf) in 3 x 1 hr sessions last week.( all fish over 55CM)

By the way on my last few trips to SA, I never blanked fishing for Galjoen on light tackle at Giffkommetjie. I must admit it is a battle to get legal size fish these days.

Thanks for all your warm welcome's guys. Eric Cotton, Your Brother in Law should realise that one should make quality time for fishing!!! Thanks Glen for the St Pat's Day wishes. I sincerely hope and pray that all dedicated anglers can once again safely fish the coast of SA without concerns or fear. Tight lines and I hope the South Easter is kind to you this weekend.

Spent some time fishing hawkesbury river in December and would love to do some R&S if I ever get the chance to visit again!

Spirits - I suppose I loved the way those tough old buggers lived in the West. Hunting Griz and trapping Beaver and of course shooting Buffalo. However,I do not agree with the way they dessimated the herds of Buffalo.I love fishing and I ensure that each fish taken for consumption is NOT wasted

Flippy thanks for your reply. Many years ago, our style of fishing for Steenies, Dassie, Haarders, Wideperd , Galjoen etc was called Flipping. We fished with Abu Diplomats 651 and Abu 3000. The initial run of Steenie on light tackle is something I will always remember.We fished under a float using those white sand fleas for bait and berleyed( Lokaas)with the the bottom sections of the kelp filled with sand fleas.
Strandloper- I will keep the site updated with local rock catches. I just returned from Maroubra where we spun and fished under floats for Kingfish( Yellowtail). I landed one Yellowtail of 76 CM which is going on the BBQ ( Braai) for lunch. My mate landed two Samson fish of 50CM.Those Kingfish cannot resist either live Chokka or a strip of Cokka fished under a float.
I intend posting a report on fishing with sea cabbage( seaweed) for herbivorous feeding fish on light tackle. I don't know if this is practised in SA?
