If u pump this puppy up enough, it is very stable!!

Myself and Riaan_The_Legend standing and fishing with no problems the other day. With the standard floor too.

BTW the foam idea is a beauty, and i am going to try get some too.

I have fished off the ark, famous and a mariner and recently a True cast. And even if you pump it up like some guys would do with their blow-up dolls that will never be as stable as a proper bass boat

I was thinking of making a rod holder on the outside of the boat. IDEA: attatch a small piece PVC pipe (thick enough to fit the butt of the rod in easily) to the rope that goes round the boat. Then for the front of the rod, attach some velcro to the rope that goes around the boat.

So its easy to stick the butt of the rod in the PVC pipe then strap the velcro to the end/middle of the rod. and quick to pull it out of this position.
Not a very good idea if you push her into confined little spaces in between trees rocks, and other structure as this will have you make a sad trip to the tackle store to replace you busted rods, had that idea but wiped it as I realised that the protection (yellow and black) plastic rib's right round was there for a reason, to take the punishment of being bumped, dragged and scoured against trees, rocks etc. rod in between the pontoons and a rocks or two whislt moving any direction, hau, eeees not a good idea.

Hey guys,

My first post! I'm thinking of grabbing a mariner, and am wondering how big to go on deep cycle battery and motor. I'd like something powerful enough, but I don't want something that'll suck the battery dry too quickly. Your advise would be much apreciated!

Hey man,
Welcome...
The Mariner has a motor max power of 40lbs I think.
But I have a 44lbs on, and it works perfectly!!
I have a 102ah battery, which has never left the green during a trip, even after a full days boating.
The 44lb doesnt go very fast when the boat is fully loaded, but it is a trolling motor so u cant expect much speed from it.
PEACE

hi, has anyone got an ARK Minnow? Was looking at getting that instead of the mariner. Only reason is you can put an outboard motor onto it. That way fishing the bigger dams (inanda, Albert falls, midmar, etc) will be easier... Any comments/advise?

Also, does anyone have an anchor on the mariner?

pop down to builder wharehouse and buy a sheet of 18 - 21mm 2.4m x 1.2m shutterply (plywood) about R220 cut to size so that it fits snuggly in the bottom and you will never sit down again. I have the smaller seahawk model and have fished it for about two years and with the plywood bottom for over a year and have yet to fall out. The key with standing is you can pitch and flip into and under thick structure really nicely that is really difficult when siting down.
