New bait brand

Hi Guys

I am currently in discussions with a company regarding importing a new bait brand into SA, I would like to know your thoughts on this and if at all possible to answer a few questions for me.

Please bear in mind I will not be advertising brand names etc on this thread this is purely research at the moment, if the response is good I can sponsor sealine for some advertising when the time comes

You will notice that this question is in both the specimen and conventional sections because both markets vary so much.

1. What is the most important aspect of a bait to you, price , quality etc?

2. What would you say is the best for testing eg: 50 people with a few kilos per person or 10 people with much more each (just random numbers)?

3. Is there a product that is currently unavailable , hard to get or very expensive and you would like that to change?

4. In terms of testing new products on our waters, any suggestions on quantities needed to make informed decisions about weather the baits work here or not?

5. In your opinion is there room for a new competitor?

my personal opinion is that the market is flooded with brands at the moment but I will answer where I can

1 - price and quality
2 - a few people in every province so that different dams can be fished. say 10
3 - no but they are not there to make friends they are out to make money and keep the business going.
4 - the brand/bait being tested should be compared/tested against well named brands in the market. one person should fish with the tested brand and another with a well known established brand at the same dam in the same conditions.
5 - my personal opinion is that the market is flooded with brands at the moment.

Hi There

Just and update on my Idea.

I have just recently come back from discussing all the options with the supplier. I have also had a look at the product range and quality and I am very impressed.

We are in negotiations at the moment regarding pricing , samples etc and once this has all been finalized I will let everyone know.
