Hi guys I'm fishing with a 13 ft 4oz rod and need a grinder to match. I have been looking at the ultegra and sustain. Any other possible suggestions??

Not clued up on R&S but the new Saragosa SW has got all the boat people very excited. Same drag design as Stella but reels are selling from R2,5k.

The Ultegra is better suited as a surf castng reel .

The 10 000 will be good enough , but if you buy the 14 000 , you will also get the 10 000 spool as an extra.

The 14 000 spool takes exactely 600m of 50lbs 8 STRAND HMP braid - nice for windy conditions.( even sharks )

The 10 000 spool can then be loaded with normal .42 high abrasion line for fishing on the rocks.

The sustain will be better suited on a 12 ft rod - we use both the Stradic , Ultegra and Bulls eye reels and they have performed well under all conditions.

The Ultegra can also be improved with some carbontex washers which you van purchase from Enigma ( on Sealine )

thanks for the info on dad. Im currently in Queenstown but have a beach house in Boknes close to Port Alfred and will be going there again in December. Where would be the best place to buy a reel? When you talk a about the ultegra witch model do you refer to the xsa, xsb or xsc? And then last question, does the ultegra or the stradic have the best cranking power?

The Ultegra XSC

Contact Bilimoria @ 043 - 7486755 ( East London )

Ultegra is the strongest.- even better with those carbontex washers - will handle average sharks too .

Let the tackleshop put the Ultegra on the same size rod as yours ,  to get the feel of what you`re wanting.

Good luck !

Thanks for all the input. I got the ultegra xsc 14000 for 1.9k from bilmoria. Can't wait to test it out.

Make sure that you keep it clean after every outing & also make sure the reel handle gets a spot of oil too - some tend to stiffen up a bit.
