TT That looks like A good trace which has obviously delivered results! how do you attach the steel wire to the swivel and clip? Is it A coated steel trace?

FSTF ROLLER I think the bead might be to protect the knot from the main line against damage from the sinker?

Sorry for the late reply. The bead is there for protection on the knot.

It is a ready made steel wire with swivel and clip. its about 15cm long.

We use dead day old chics. no head, wings. legs or skin.
 
you hook the body just below the "rugstring" and out the other side.

ons gebruik die staal wire net vir "incase" maar dikker lyk sal ook werk.
 
maar dan is daar 2 extra knoppe wat kan breek. en die staal strace is net baie vinniger om reg te kry

ons vang van die boot af en  van die kant af met die trace. die sinker weeg om en by 30g.
 
ons gebruik van der merwe hoeke so 3cm lank.
of gewone plain hoeke so 4cm lank met 'n redelike groot buig. kan nie nou die size onthou ne sal gan loer watse no hoek dit is.

this trace is very good off a boat when drifting. specialy with platties but it has also worked for us with day old chicks and livers.

What is the speed you drift at. or do you just let the boat drift?
 
we normally anker the boat or fish from sore.

drift quite slow but not to slow.(just play with different speeds and you will find what works for you). while drifting you watch the tip of your rod as the sinker bounces on the bettom, it sticks then come loose the whole time. so it looks like the plattie is swimming and the barbel eat it. and your ratchet starts screeming.
